It is a type of cancer that develops in your lymphatic tissue. This tissue system is a linked group of lymph vessels, lymph node, and other parts of the body that holds white blood cells, which fight infections. Your lymph vessels join each lymph node all through your body.

Yearly, there are around 7,350 new cases of Hodgkin’s disease in the United States. With the advances in treatments, it is considered to be one of the most curable cancers.

Even though most of these symptoms can be caused by multiple illnesses, if two or more of these symptoms are evident, contacting the doctor is recommended.

The two main treatment types are Chemo and radiotherapy. You might need one or the other of these Hodgkins disease treatments or a mixture of both.

Additional Information – Hodgkin’s Disease Treatments

  • Stage I: One lymph node is infected.
  • Stage II: Over two lymph nodes are infected on one side of your diaphragm, which is under your lung.
  • Stage III: Infected lymph nodes are on both sides of the diaphragm.
  • Stage IV: The infection has spread to organs outside of the diaphragm (liver or lungs).

Survival Rate

These are the 5-year survival rates.

  • Stage I: 90% to 95%
  • Stage II: 90% to 95%
  • Stage III: 85% to 90%
  • Stage IV: Around 80%

Since 1960, the Hodgkins disease survival rate has doubled from 40% to over 86% caused by the improvement of the types of treatments. The causes (Hodgkins Disease – thehodgkinsdisease.infoIcon: External Link) are unknown. Many studies are trying to change that.
